Paulaner Brauhaus German Restaurant: "
Jakarta's German restaurants Ya Udah Bistro and Die Stube have a new competitor... This German brasserie is a more upmarket eating place though, but to be honest I only saw the difference in price (and yes, in the settings, but that's always secondary for me). The meals are well cooked and not that expensive: One main dish is enough to fill your stomach and it will cost you around Rp. 100k. Since almost half the dishes in Paulaner Brauhaus are made of pork, it is not surprising that most customers are expats (with some Chinese). They also have a collection of German draft beer.
There is a live music schedule every evening except on Sunday starting 9pm. Don't worry, it's not German music.. The restaurant plans to hold special events to celebrate some Bavarian festivities, such as the Oktoberfest or the Asparagus week.
Even though it is part of a large chain, Paulaner Brauhaus is a simple place with nothing luxurious. I just think it is pushing the 'German Restaurant' concept a bit far by trying to make the place look 'just like home'. Seeing the Indonesian waitresses dressed up as traditional German girls just feels a bit weird...
Opening Hours: Every day of the week 11h30am to 00h30am (1h30am on weekends)
